Caradoc Townsend Mutual (CTM) is a local mutual insurer that has served the counties of Ontario’s South Coast for more than a century. CTM was founded in 1879 by a group of local farmers looking for affordable insurance that was not available through larger international companies. CTM’s roots as a locally based, service-focused, member-owned entity remain to this day. In the years since, CTM has thrived and continued to provide affordable insurance solutions to people across Southern Ontario. With offices in Waterford and Komoka, we are well-placed to serve our clients, and we remain committed to our local communities.
CTM is organized like a co-operative so each customer is also a member, and the members actually own the company. Year after year, the company successfully meets its goal to provide reliable insurance to its members at as low a cost as possible.
The Board of Directors is elected by the members, and each Director is also a policyholder. They don’t report to some far-away speculative shareholders, but instead, they govern the company and its members with our communities in mind.

As a longstanding corporate citizen, CTM proudly supports local agriculture and community organizations, sponsoring local fairs, youth sports, soil and crop improvement societies, service clubs, senior support organizations, hospitals, food banks, and we offer scholarships to support local youths looking to further their education. In addition, we made significant contributions to the Waterford Arena “Raise the Roof” campaign, Norfolk General Hospital Foundation, and The Waterford Heritage Trail, just to name a few. CTM launched the CTM Care Campaign to further our commitment to supporting our local communities.
